What is a dental implant?

The dental implant is a modern solution for replacing the root of a lost natural tooth. It serves as a support for fixed prosthetic restorations (crowns, bridges) or removable (implant-supported dentures). Most commonly, the implant has a shape similar to that of a dental root (root-form) and is made of pure titanium, a biocompatible material, recognized for its excellent resistance and tolerance in the body.

When is a dental implant indicated?

Dental implants are recommended in the case of the loss of one or more teeth. Unlike conventional dental bridges, which involve sacrificing the dental tissues of adjacent teeth, implants allow the replacement of the missing tooth without affecting the structure of healthy teeth. Thus, they constitute a predictable, minimally invasive and effective long-term therapeutic solution.

Dental implant success rate

Implantologia modernă este utilizată pe scară largă de peste 50 de ani, cu o rată de succes medie de aproximativ 95%. Longevitatea implanturilor poate depăși câteva decenii, condiționată de o igienă orală riguroasă și de controale periodice regulate.

Components of an implant-supported prosthetic work

A prosthetic work on an implant requires the existence of three essential components:

  1. Dental implant – inserted into the jaw bone;
  2. The prosthetic abutment – the connector that connects the implant and the crown;
  3. Dental crown – the visible part, which replaces the missing tooth and ensures aesthetic and masticatory function.

The continuous professional training of the medical team was carried out both in the country and in renowned international centers, through participation in courses and specialization internships.

Medical team

Implantology procedures are performed by Dr. Panțel Marton, Dr. Sîrca George and Dr. Șimon Vlad, doctors with advanced training and certifications in the field of oral implantology.

Implant systems used

The clinic uses premium dental implants from a portfolio of over 20 international systems. Among the most commonly used are:

  • Anyridge (Megagen, South Korea)
  • K3Pro Sure (Argon, Germany)
  • INNO (Cowellmedi, South Korea)
  • Straumann (Switzerland)
  • Prama (Sweden & Martina, Italy)

The selection of the implant type is made following a detailed clinical-paraclinical evaluation, through a joint doctor-patient decision-making process.

Stages of dental implant treatment

  1. Initial consultation – Includes clinical examination, medical history, imaging evaluation (OPG panoramic radiography and CBCT tomography), as well as detailed discussion of the personalized treatment plan.
  2. Intervention planning – It involves taking impressions of the dental arches, making models and surgical guides for optimal implant positioning.
  3. Insertion of implants – It is performed under local anesthesia, in a controlled environment, the intervention lasting approximately 30–45 minutes/implant. The procedure is minimally invasive and painless.
  4. Healing stage – 10–14 days postoperatively, the sutures are removed. After approximately 4 months, the implants are exposed and the healing caps are placed.
  5. Prosthetic restoration – Impressions are taken to create the definitive prosthetic crown, personalized according to the shape, color, and volume of the patient's teeth.
  6. Immediate restorations – In selected cases, immediate loading with provisional or definitive work is possible in the same session as implant insertion.

All-on-X technique

The All-on-X system is intended for patients who are completely edentulous or who require extraction of all teeth. Based on a 3D tomography and a digital plan, 4–6 dental implants are inserted using a surgical guide. This method allows for immediate restoration of esthetic and masticatory function through a fixed provisional restoration, performed in 12–24 hours.

Dental implant maintenance

To maintain long-term results, it is essential that implant patients perform:

  • Professional cleanings and periodic annual checks;
  • Correct brushing and supplemented with additional means (oral irrigator, interdental brushes);
  • Constant monitoring of gingival and bone status.

Following these recommendations contributes to extending the lifespan of implants and related prosthetic work.

Frequently asked questions about dental implants

Can I get a dental implant if I have several general health problems?
In most cases, yes. There are also personalized solutions for patients with controlled diabetes, osteoporosis, or other systemic conditions. During the initial consultation, we will carefully assess your overall health and, if necessary, collaborate with your treating physician to make the safest decision.
What happens if I don't replace a missing tooth?
Missing a tooth can lead to tooth loss, bone loss, bite changes, and even digestive problems over time. A dental implant prevents these complications and preserves long-term oral health.
Is bone grafting needed before implant?
Only in some cases, when bone volume is insufficient. At Dental Art, we use 3D radiographs (CBCT) to accurately assess the available bone and, if necessary, discuss safe bone augmentation methods together.
Can dental implants be rejected by the body?

Rejection reactions are extremely rare. The materials used (such as pure titanium) are biocompatible and accepted by the body. Compliance with post-operative instructions and periodic check-ups reduce the risks to a minimum.

What guarantees does the clinic offer for dental implants?
We offer a guarantee for the inserted implants, conditional on annual check-ups and professional cleaning. It is a long-term partnership, and we are here to support it with seriousness and empathy.
